Quark mass effects on the stability of hybrid stars

چکیده
We perform a study of the possible existence of hybrid stars with color super-conducting quark cores using a specific hadronic model in a combination with an NJL-type quark model. It is shown that the constituent mass of the non-strange quarks in vacuum is a very important parameter that controls the beginning of the hadron-quark phase transition. At relatively small values of the mass, the first quark phase that appears is the two-flavor color superconducting (2SC) phase which, at larger densities, is replaced by the color-flavor locked (CFL) phase. At large values of the mass, on the other hand, the phase transition goes from the hadronic phase directly into the CFL phase avoiding the 2SC phase. It appears, however, that the only stable hybrid stars obtained are those with the 2SC quark cores.

Multi fluidity and Solitary wave stability in cold quark matter: core of dense astrophysical objects
Considering the magneto-hydrodynamic equations in a non-relativistic multi uid framework, we study the behavior of small amplitude perturbations in cold quark matter. Magneto-hydrodynamic equations, along with a suitable equation of state for the cold quark matter, are expanded using the reductive perturbation method. It is shown that in small amplitude approximation, such a medium should be co...
متن کاملHybrid stars with color superconductivity within a nonlocal chiral quark model
The equation of state for quark matter is derived for a nonlocal, chiral quark model within the mean field approximation. Special emphasis is on the occurrence of a diquark condensate which signals a phase transition to color superconductivity and its effects on the equation of state. We present a fit formula for ’Bag pressure’, which is a constant in case when the quark matter is not color sup...

One of the most intriguing consequence of the extreme conditions inside neutron stars is the possibility of the natural existence of a deconfined strange quark matter phase in the high density interior of the star. The equation of state (EOS) of strange quark matter (SQM) was recently improved in the framework of the MIT bag model by including medium effects. It was found that medium effects in...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF COSMIONS ON THE STABILITY OF MAIN SEQUENCE STELLAR CORES
We have studied the effect of hypothetical Cosmions on the core stability of main sequence stars (of populations I and II). Cosmions, with a mass of 4-10 Gev/c2 and a scattering cross section with nucleons of approximately 10-36 cm2 could prevail in transporting heat in the stellar cores. Raby [17] showed the existence of a local thermal instability caused by the presence of Cosmions in the sol...
متن کاملObservational constraints on quark matter in neutron stars
We estimate the constraints of observational mass and redshift on the properties of equations of state (EOS) for quark matter based on the quasiparticle description in the compact stars. We discuss two scenarios: strange stars and hybrid stars. We construct the equations of state utilizing an extended MIT bag model taking medium effect into account for quark matter and relativistic mean field t...
